Terran Conflict uses the same engine as Reunion, but with an improved menu system, a yet bigger universe, and some new ship classes. It is widely held to be the best game of the series. The automation scripts help immensely with this, especially if you get the Plugin manager, the Bonus Pack (helps a TON with factory supplying. Preferably with stuff to do, like exploring. getting out of your ship and walking around. Planet side/station side interaction, i.e. I can see even from my humble starting position that the main point to this game is simply to "get bigger." That's cool enough to keep me hooked for a long time though. Hundreds of little things like this where you have to search around for answers makes it hard to understand things at first.ģ. Knowing the difference between Wings and Wingmen would also have been nice, though I could have checked the manual for that. Even simple things like understanding the nature of the economy took me a couple of days to understand until I realized the difference between "Products" and "Resources." Setting up a trading ship that operates independently also took me several hours of Googling. In some games I could find this a killer, but in a game this good it's only slightly annoying.Ģ. Better than buying it right away and realizing that it's not the game you were looking for anyway. ![]() I think you should try it for like 10 hours before investing that much in a joystick, I'm guessing you'll see right away if the gameplay has the potential and if the joystick would improve it. It's a rather contemplative game in a way. It's very slow going though, even with the fast forward mechanism (time compression I think). You can set up complicated trade routes and even build stations that produce stuff. There are a whoooole lot of different ship types. It's very open with an easily ignored "main quest". I know X3 was pretty darn complicated for me and I was just starting to get the hang of it when real life made me stop playing (a month with too much work). That being said, I have never played Elite and you seem to have really high expectations so I feel like I'm setting you up for disappointment. I'm sorry to say you missed a big special recently and probably could have gotten it for less than 10$ (was it on Steam or Gamersgate anyone?). I love X3, I don't know why anyone would get anything other than X3: Terran Conflict at this point. ![]()
